I have an Athlon XP 2000+, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9500 128MB video card. I can run LOMAC, barely, at low to medium graphics settings, and MS Flight Sim 2004 at full graphics, and IL2 at high. As soon as I get some disposable income, I'll upgrade to an XP 3200+ and 1GB; that oughtta give my system some longer legs. The bottleneck for me right now is the CPU, with RAM a close second. I would definately get 1GB for modern games, especially if you want any chance to alt-tab out to other applications...

I have a couple of computers running 1700+ processors, 256mb RAM (need more!!) and 128mb video cards (Gforce5200s)using 7200rpm drives. This combo will run everything up to and including Doom3, but D3 does make it run sticky sometimes. It'll run X-Planes 7.5 though.

For a joystick I have a Cytek Cyborg. I used to have the X36 stick/throttle combo, but it was a lot of work to set up for each game (but you could program the living shit out of it) and it took up a lot of desk space.
